Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds Is Ditching Crypto and Starting Over

by Gavin Gill

Video game developer Netmarble announced a significant operational restructuring for its mobile MMORPG, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, which involves the permanent shutdown of its current blockchain-integrated servers on Sept. 17, 2026, at 06:00 AM UTC. Concurrently, the company will relaunch the title under a new “global unified server” in July 2026 that completely removes all cryptocurrency and non-fungible token (NFT) elements from the game.

According to an official statement from the development team, the current game servers, the official forum, and the integrations using Netmarble’s proprietary blockchain ecosystem, MARBLEX, will be completely terminated. Netmarble noted that the decision was made after evaluating the operational direction of the current build, concluding that it was difficult to continuously provide a stable service experience under the blockchain-integrated structure.

Progression Reset and Migration Support

The transition to the global unified server will require all returning players to create entirely new characters, effectively resetting all previous level and story progression. The company confirmed that the sale of all paid items in the current in-game shop will be discontinued following an update on July 2, 2026.

To compensate existing players for the forced data reset, Netmarble stated it will record the highest Combat Power (CP) achieved on player accounts on July 2, 2026, at 06:00 AM UTC. This snapshot will determine tiered “migration support rewards” distributed on the new server environment. Netmarble noted that a dedicated website outlining these tiered rewards will launch in early July.

Complete Removal of MARBLEX Blockchain

The upcoming global unified server represents a shift away from the play-to-earn mechanics that defined the game’s global release in May 2022. The MARBLEX exchange web shop will officially cease operations on Sept. 10, 2026, at 06:00 AM UTC, giving users a final window to exchange their in-game crypto assets.

According to player discussions on public forums, the removal of the blockchain ecosystem mirrors the model utilized by the South Korean version of the game, where play-to-earn features were legally restricted from launch. Netmarble stated that the new server build will focus on a more stable operational environment, deeper growth mechanics, and brand-new content updates.

Platform Constraints and Deadlines

Netmarble issued a specific directive regarding account synchronization ahead of the server migration. The company stated that the incoming global unified service will not support Facebook logins.

Players who have exclusively linked their progress to Facebook accounts must additionally link an email address before the July server launch. The company explicitly noted that accounts failing to link an email address within the given timeframe will be unable to receive their migration support rewards.
