IG Expands UK Crypto Access After FCA Registration
The London-based trading platform IG announced on May 13 the expansion of its UK cryptocurrency offering with more than 50 additional digital assets. The update lifts its available crypto range to more than 100 assets and adds swap functionality, upgraded charting tools, and planned wallet transfer support for customers.
The expansion follows the firm securing Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) cryptoasset registration in October 2025. UK clients can now access a wider selection of cryptocurrencies through its licensed crypto product. The rollout also introduced swap functionality, allowing customers to exchange one cryptocurrency directly for another. Previously, crypto purchases could only be made using fiat currency. The platform now includes enhanced charting capabilities, including line and candlestick charts, alongside technical indicators and annotations for market analysis. The additions expand the company’s crypto trading capabilities as competition grows among regulated digital asset platforms in the UK.
IG stated:
“After securing its FCA cryptoasset registration in October 2025, IG has added more than 50 cryptocurrencies to its offering, increasing the total number available to more than 100.”
Wallet transfer support will later allow customers to move external crypto holdings into the same account used for other products, including contracts for difference (CFDs) and spread bets.
Crypto Wallet Transfers Expand Multi-Asset Access
The expanded functionality moves the platform beyond basic cryptocurrency access by combining trading, technical analysis, and portfolio management tools within one investing environment. Direct crypto swaps remove an additional conversion step for users rotating between digital assets, while upgraded charting features support more advanced market monitoring.
IG outlined:
“In the coming weeks, IG will introduce crypto transfers in and out, enabling customers to move existing holdings from external wallets onto the IG platform.”
Mat Perkins, product director at IG, described the expansion as part of the company’s push to build a more complete and trusted crypto investing experience for UK clients. He also pointed to advanced trading capabilities and integrated wallet transfers as part of its broader effort to bring digital assets into its existing multi-product investment ecosystem.
