Out Now in English: Korean Novel To The Moon Explores Crypto Risks and Office Discontent

To The Moon, the bestselling South Korean novel that explores the risks of cryptocurrency and the everyday discontent of office life, is now available in English at Fully Booked branches and online.

Bookstore chain Fully Booked announced on its social media pages that the Korean novel To the Moon by Jang Ryujin, translated into English by Sean Lin Halbert, is now available both at Fully Booked branches nationwide and through Fully Booked Online.

According to its website, the novel is priced at ₱1,049. The Fully Booked website also highlighted praise from readers, describing the novel as “bittersweet and deeply relatable,” with one reviewer calling it “a propulsive story that kept me on the razor wire of anxious and hopeful.”

Novel Synopsis

To The Moon follows three young women, Eun-sang, Jisong, and Dahae, who meet while working desk jobs at a confectionery company in Seoul. Frustrated by stagnant wages, incompetent management, and the monotony of corporate life, the trio grows close over shared dreams of financial freedom.

Their lives take a dramatic turn when Eun-sang proposes investing in cryptocurrency as a way to escape their dead-end jobs. What begins as casual lunchtime chatter spirals into high-risk decisions with lasting consequences, testing both their friendship and their futures as the crypto market crashes.

Recently, the Web3 Young Learners Encyclopedia, a collaborative project by Bitget and local initiative CrypTita Plays, was officially launched on CoinGecko’s Learn & Earn platform. Designed to introduce blockchain concepts to young readers through engaging visuals and simplified language, the book is also being distributed in print to underserved communities worldwide.

In 2023, Former Solicitor General and current Silliman University Law Dean Florin “Pilo” Hilbay launched The Bitcoin Monetary Network that highlighted Bitcoin as a revolutionary alternative to traditional finance. The book explores the decentralization of money and communication, positioning Bitcoin as a native internet currency that challenges surveillance capitalism and promotes freedom in the digital age.

In 2021, Bookshelf PH published Opening the Archipelago: The Story of Blockchain in the Philippines, authored by Henry Aguda, Cathy Casas, and Atty. Nathan Marasigan. The book broke down blockchain concepts, showcased local use cases, and explored the need for progressive regulation to make blockchain more accessible and relevant to Filipinos.

In 2019, Luis Buenaventura, together with 7 other entrepreneurs, activists, and educators, released The Little Bitcoin Book, a simple explanation of how Bitcoin works, and why it is such a critical financial innovation for society.
