PayPal Launches Crypto Payment Option for U.S. Merchants
8:00 am: PayPal said it is planning to launch a new payment feature allowing small U.S. merchants to accept over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Trump’s memecoin, and Fartcoin.
The company will charge a promotional fee of 0.99% for the first year, increasing to 1.5% thereafter.
Transactions will be settled by converting the crypto to PayPal’s stablecoin PYUSD, then into U.S. dollars. Users can connect wallets from centralized or decentralized exchanges. PayPal said the feature will expand to larger merchants in the U.S. and globally but did not give a timeline.
Solana Co-Founder Calls Meme Coins “Digital Slop”
8:15 am:Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko dismissed meme coins and NFTs as “digital slop” with “no intrinsic value,” comparing them to loot boxes in mobile games.
The remark, made in a discussion with Base creator Jesse Pollak, comes despite Solana’s reliance on meme coin activity via launchpad Pump.fun, which has generated over 12 million tokens and $776 million in revenue.
Pollak defended platforms like Zora, calling creator coins “incredibly valuable” and arguing that tokens are a powerful technology for value transfer. Yakovenko maintained that most of the activity relies on speculative cycles, while critics warned the trend may be unsustainable despite driving short-term blockchain revenue.
Coinbase Reportedly in Late-Stage Talks to Acquire Hacked Indian Exchange CoinDCX
8:56 am: Coinbase is in advanced talks to acquire India-based crypto exchange CoinDCX at a valuation below $900 million, Indian media outlet Livemint reported Monday as per Wu Blockchain. The deal would mark a steep drop from CoinDCX’s $2.2 billion peak valuation in 2021.
Sources cited in the report say Coinbase views the acquisition as a long-term bet on India’s crypto market. CoinDCX recently suffered a $44 million exploit on July 19. Coinbase declined to comment on the matter.
In The Past Five Hours: 50M USDT, 1K BTC Moved Out From Galaxy Digital
10:28 a.m.: Prior to this, last Friday, reports show that there were also 10,000 BTC and 17,123 BTC withdrawn to multiple exchanges in just eight hours and 12 hours, respectively, from Galaxy Digital, a financial services firm specializing in digital assets.
As of writing, Galaxy Digital holds $1 billion worth of cryptocurrencies across seven networks, per Arkham data.

11:14 a.m.: With the recent surge of altcoins in this current market, XRP, SOL and DOGE seems to disappoint their holders.
In the past seven days, among the top 10 tokens, the three assets are the only negative in terms of price action. XRP is down by 10.6%, SOL is down by 9.1%, while DOGE is down by 15.6%, data from CoinGecko showed.
US SEC Postpones Decision to on Trump-Linked Bitcoin, Grayscale Solana ETFs
11:33 a.m.: According to the regulator, it will take eight more weeks to decide on approving the Bitcoin ETF of Truth Social, a social media platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, and Solana ETF, a conversion from Grayscale Solana Trust.
The deadline for the U.S. SEC to decide on the Grayscale Solana ETF will be on October 10, while the deadline for Truth Social Bitcoin ETF is on September 18.
